HEAT WAVES AT ASSAM.

School timings in Barak Valley have been rescheduled from Wednesday, June 11, following a directive from the District Commissioner of Hailakandi, Cachar & Shiribumi in response to the ongoing heatwave conditions. The decision was talen considering public well-being shue to the continuous rise in temperature across the region


As per the onder issued on Tuesday, June ,10, by the minister of Education Shri Ronoj Pegu ,the revised school hours will apply to all government, provincialised, and private schools in region Assam The updated schedule will remain in force until further notice.


Under the revised timings, lower primary  schools will operate from 7:30 AM to 12:15 PM, while the upper primary schools will operate from 7:30 AM to 12:45 PM. High schools and higher secondary schools have been directed to operate there classes from 7:30 AM to 1:15 PM.


The order has also mandated that morning assemblies be conducted indoors or in shaded areas . Outdoor activities have been suspended for the duration of this revised schedule, Schools have been further instructed to ring water bells three to four times during school hours and ensure adequate drinking water is available for students.


Additionally, educational institutions have been directed to ensure that all classrooms are well-ventilated and equipped with functional fans


Relatedly. Guwahati recorded a maximum temperature of 37.1°C on Tuesday, marking a 5.1°C departure from the seasonal normal. The India Meteorological Departament (IMD) has issued a red alert for the city as temperature continued their upward trend following June 9, when a high of 36°C was logged.
