First COVID Case in 3 Years Reported at Silchar Medical College
After a gap of three years, a student from the Microbiology Department of Silchar Medical College reportedly tested COVID-19 positive on Wednesday (June 11).
Though asymptomatic, he is under isolation and treatment as per protocol.
The hospital has prepared 20 isolation beds and 4 ICU units as a precaution. Principal Dr Bhaskar Gupta said there is no need to panic but urged everyone to follow COVID safety guidelines. The patient’s sample will be sent for genome sequencing.
